Are you ready to get started building the business of your dreams and achieve the flexibility you’ve always wanted?!

Are you nervous about finding time to build your business while you are still working elsewhere, raising kids at home, or maintaining your household?

Time is something you can’t buy, but it is something you can prioritize.

I’m sure you are thinking that you must be nuts to even consider starting your own business while maintaining a job or raising kids, or both. Your schedule is a never-ending list of to-dos and you rarely (if ever) take time for yourself.

Does that sound about right?

Here’s the deal: if you want this to work, you have to make time for it. A business cannot grow itself and the unique aspect of your business is you.

YOU have to be willing to give it time.

When you really want something, you make the time for it, no matter how difficult it might seem. This is no exception, and I’m not going to sugar coat it. Areas or activities in your life will have to suffer while you are creating your brand and growing your business (at least in the beginning).

Please don’t let this scare you. It’s easier than you’d think to find the time to work on something you truly love and feel passionate about. Here are some of my favorite ways to find time to work on building my business.

Dedicate 30-60 Minutes Each Morning

This may mean waking up earlier, enlisting your husband/significant other to help with the kids, or negotiating a later start time at work.

One thing is for sure, the morning is the time your brain will be the most alert and the most creative, so take advantage of it! I call my morning business building time “the power hour!”

Work When The Kids Are In Bed

This one is the most obvious but perhaps the hardest. Either you will be too tired to work after the kids go to bed, you will have too many chores to complete, or you will simply be too tired. Consider hiring help to ease your load a little bit at home. We hired a “mother’s helper” to come a few days a week and OMG, it has been the best thing I have done for my sanity and my business!

Schedule A Night Away

That’s right. Use those hotel points and GTFO (get the flip out) of the house, now! Being away from home will give you uninterrupted time to work on your business, make plans, and often times will spark new creativity being in a new place all by yourself.

Create A Schedule

Make sure everyone in the family knows it is “leave mommy alone time.”

This can be a few hours on a Saturday morning at a coffee shop or an hour right after dinner a few nights a week. Figure out what works for you, clear it with the family, and put it on the calendar!

Today’s takeaway: If you are unwilling to create dedicated time to build your business, you’ve failed before you even get started. This is why I make it the number one thing you MUST do.

Right now decide on the times you will dedicate to working on your business and put it on the calendar!
